Dr. Peter Stock is a transplant surgeon who specializes in kidney, liver and pancreas transplants. He is co-director of the Pancreatic Islet Cell Transplantation Program.

In his research, Stock studies body mechanisms that lead to transplant rejection when the donor and recipient are not genetically identical. He also studies chimerism (a therapy to prevent transplant rejection that uses the donor's bone marrow cells) and pancreatic islet cell transplantation (a procedure that can allow people with type 1 diabetes to discontinue insulin therapy).

Stock received his medical training at the University of Minnesota, completing a surgical residency before coming to UCSF for a transplant fellowship. He joined the UCSF faculty in 1992.

Stock is an active teacher and supervises surgical residents and fellows. He is a member of numerous professional and honorary societies.

    About our process

Dr. PETE STOCK spent almost an hour with me to solve all my entire health issues and problems. He had a very good patience to listen to all my questions, concerns, problems and issues regarding my Transplanted Liver, my troubles kidney's warning signs, my stomach issues with aching, 4 months missing for monthly Liver function tests, loss lot of weight, extreme chronic fatigue symptoms issues, extreme low immune function symptoms, and under nutrition issues with no appetite as well as difficulty to fall asleep at night. He is the only Doctor or surgeon willing to pay attention to patient's disease warning signs, health conditions with concerns, health issues needing, and promising following up treatment for the specific disease test results. He instructed me to write down his command orders in a list and instructed to contact PA name DANA to follow his command orders list. He is the only Doctor spent this kind patience and time with me. He did really care for my entire health. He told me that I could live longer than average Liver Transplant patients. He is my doctor HERO. He did the best job for my Liver Transplant . He is the best surgeon in UCSF HOSPITAL history. I wish him the best in his profession and had a long life to continue to help others patients. God bless him.

My visit provided in depth discussion about my health and wellness with my physician. My overall test results were good and I was also able to see my liver transplant surgeon for the first time in several years.
